North Shore Outdoor Ministries is a non-denominational mission trip organization targeted for teenagers. We work with and employ people from different denominations. North Shore Outdoor Ministries is a non-profit organization supported by West Side Community Church in Traverse City, Michigan. NSOM is licenced and meets all requirements set by the State of Michigan.
NSOM provides Mission Trip experiences for high school or junior high school youth groups. During your trip, your group will be camping. Your group can choose Rustic Camping or Traditional Camping. This Mission Trip experience will also include: working a Day Camp, Soccer Camp, or a Home Repair Project, and a free day of adventure which consists of hiking or exploring the sand dunes.
NSOM is located in Traverse City, Michigan, we are surrounded by lakes, trees, hills, and sand dunes. There is plenty of hiking and adventure in the Traverse City area.
Northern Michigan is unique in the population of people that surround us. We have a large community of Native Americans, migrant workers as well as several low income housing areas. We will target these areas thoughout the week and reach as many children and families as we possibly can.
We work with teenagers within youth groups and challenge them to live a life for Jesus Christ. Your junior high school or high school youth group will have the opportunity to run a Soccer Camp, do a Home Repair project, or lead a Day Camp. Your teenagers become leaders as they reach out, teach Bible lessons, and love people who may not know the love of Jesus Christ. In addition to the Soccer Camp, Day Camp and Home Repair project, we also have Home Repair Weekend Projects and Team Building Retreats.
The Home Repair Weekend Project allows your youth group to help a needy family in northern Michigan and a time to get away and strenghthen your youth group. The Home Repair Weekend Project is only offered September through May. This adventure weekend will consist of a Home Repair Project, sand dunes, hiking, high ropes, ice skating, tubing, or skiing. Your group will stay in a rustic lodge from Friday night through Sunday morning. This Weekend Project will be an important time for your group to get away and connect with each other and with God. This Project will be an awesome time to show the love of Jesus Christ to people.
The Team Building Retreat is also only offered in the fall, winter and spring. This retreat will help strengthen your youth group as you participate in team building activities throughout the weekend. You will also be challenged Spiritually as we dig into God's word and learn more about Him.
During your Mission Trip at NSOM, your youth group will participate in daily devotionals, times of worship and discussion times. You will be challenged to stand up for your faith in God. Your youth group will work together to make meals, set up camp, and lead the Soccer Camp, Day Camp or Home Repair Project.
North Shore Outdoor Ministries is dedicated to equip teenagers in a life of evangelism. We want to challenge students in three ways: 1.) to live a passionate life for Jesus Christ; deeper than they ever have before, 2.)to reach out and show God's love to everyone they come in contact with and 3.) to begin to think of ways to change the world around them.
